Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program – 2021
Saab Immigration Parents & Grandparents Sponsorship Program

also Under the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program, Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents, 18 years of age or older can sponsor their Parents and Grandparents to become Permanent Residents of Canada. The Sponsors will need to demonstrate their ability to financially support the parents/ grandparents being sponsored. The program is not open all throughout the year. A Lottery based system is used to conduct this. Eligible Sponsors will need to submit an ‘Interest to Sponsor’ form to support the PR eligibility of their respective Parents or Grandparents. Eventually, applicants, as per the pre-announced numbers,  are sent invites to file for an application for PR. Here are the updates to this program in 2021.

The Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program-2021 (PGP 2021)

In 2020, IRCC issued 10,000 invites through a lucky draw and the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program for 2021 opened up recently in the week starting 20th September 2021.  No new applicants would get an opportunity under this program. Only those submissions of an ‘Interest to Sponsor’ form, made last year (between 13th October 2020 and 3rd November 2020) are eligible to receive invites under this program.  IRCC  recently announced its intention to issue up to 30000 invites through this program.

Received an Invite… What should you do?

On receiving the invite, the applicant can submit the completed application within  60 days to submit. A complete application will include copies of an applicant’s official documents, various forms detailing one’s personal and professional life, immigration status, marital status, relationship proofs, travel documents, Explanation and Proof that The Household Income meets or exceeds the minimum necessary income requirements for the previous 3 years, photographs etc.

Congratulations to you if you’ve received an invite under this program. The program is luck based to start with. Put your best foot forward at the time of filing the application. People good with paperwork and a good understanding of the legal formalities can typically file an application without help. Most people new to the process and country could do with help to make the best of the opportunity. Choose your help wisely. If you are appointing a representative/immigration firm to work on your behalf, do ensure that your representative has experience of working on such applications and that the work put in has the maximum chance of resulting in a positive decision.
