Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship

The Parent and grandparent Sponsorship Program, and the Super Visa Program, allow Canadian Citizens and permanent residents to sponsor and reunite with parents and grandparents.

To be qualified to sponsor guardians and grandparents

  • You must be a Canadian citizen or a Permanent resident
  • Be 18 years old or more
  • You must meet the minimum income requirements
  • Must sign an undertaking agreement committing to provide financial support for sponsored parents or grandparents and repay any provincial social assistance benefits paid to the sponsored family members for the twenty years.
  • Sponsors living in Quebec need to sign an additional undertaking agreement.

Sponsors need to provide three notices of Assessment issued by CRA to IRCC proving that they meet the minimum necessary income requirements.

Application Process for  Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program

  • Sponsors had to first submit an Interest to Sponsor form on the IRCC website.
  • After processing these forms, an invitation to apply is made on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • Applicants need to prepare and submit the complete application within 90 days from the date of invitation.
