If it’s less than 90 days since expiry we can help.

Through the process of Restoration, the temporary residents who have lost their status or right to work or study in Canada can apply to restore that status. They can apply to restore their status within 90 days of the expiry of their temporary status in Canada.

Whether it is the study permit restoration or the authorization to work, to restore the status,  the applicant needs to be in Canada at the time of filing the application. Also, note the applicant is eligible for the status they held prior to the restoration application.

You may apply for Status Restoration – work or study permit, if:

• The status expiry date is not more than 90 consecutive days.
• Stayed in Canada longer than the permit authorized for your stay, but less than 90 days.
• You have not failed to comply with the conditions imposed and continue to meet the initial requirements for your stay.

The application process for study permit restoration & work permit restoration: –

• If the foreign national leaves Canada, they are no longer eligible for the restoration of their status. They will need to make this application while they are in Canada.
• All the corresponding fees for application of restoration must be paid i.e. $150 CAD for study permit extension fees and $200 CAD restoration fees.
• The full details of all the facts and circumstances should be provided in the application.

The process varies from case to case and restoration can take several months.

During the process of restoration, the applicants can continue to stay in Canada but they cannot study or work in Canada until their application has been approved and a new study or work permit has been issued.
